Why Choose an Enclosure Over a Shower Curtain?
water containmenthygienedurability
A glass shower enclosure outperforms a curtain on every practical measure that matters in a Dubai bathroom.
Water containment is the most immediate difference: a properly sealed glass enclosure keeps every drop inside the shower zone, whereas curtains allow splash to spread across the floor and grout lines. From a hygiene standpoint, flat tempered glass has no folds or fabric weave where mould or bacteria can establish — a genuine concern when Dubai's relative humidity regularly pushes above 90 percent overnight, creating the exact warm, damp conditions that accelerate mildew in curtain fabric. On durability, a well-installed glass enclosure typically lasts 15 to 20 years with basic maintenance; fabric curtains rarely survive more than two or three years before they need replacing. The cost-per-year case for glass is clear.

What Does a Shower Cubicle Enclosure Cost in Dubai?
budget hardwarepremium finishpanel size
Bathroom shower enclosures in Dubai range from roughly AED 1,200 for a basic framed unit with budget hardware and standard 6 mm glass up to AED 12,000 or more for a large frameless wet-room configuration with 10 mm low-iron glass and brushed stainless fittings. The main price drivers are panel size — an 80 × 80 cm cubicle uses less material than a 100 × 120 cm layout — and hardware grade. Cheap shower enclosures typically use aluminium profiles and chrome hinges that corrode faster in Dubai's repeated condensation cycles; premium finishes use marine-grade stainless or powder-coated aluminium alloy. Adding a hydrophobic nano-coating at installation typically costs AED 200–600 extra but is strongly advisable given that DEWA's desalinated supply carries 500–700 mg/L of dissolved solids, which etches uncoated glass rapidly. Always confirm whether installation labour is included in the quoted price.

Enclosure Sizes for Small and Large Bathrooms
small cubiclecompact layoutstandard size
The right bathroom cubicle size depends on available floor area, door-swing clearance, and how the rest of the room is laid out.
For a small shower enclosure, 80 × 80 cm is the practical minimum — it fits a standard adult comfortably and suits the compact layout found in many Dubai apartment bathrooms built before 2010. Small shower cubicles at 90 × 90 cm are the most common standard size we install and represent the best balance between comfort and footprint. Medium bathrooms in villa townhouses typically accommodate 100 × 100 cm or 90 × 120 cm rectangular enclosures without issue. For large master bathrooms, walk-in configurations from 120 × 80 cm to full wet-room widths of 150 cm or more are practical. Glass height runs 195–200 cm as a standard across all sizes, with 210 cm available for high-ceiling rooms. Always measure door-swing arc before finalising the layout.

Corner-Entry Enclosures for Space-Saving Layouts

A corner shower enclosure solves the space problem that defeats conventional layouts in narrower Dubai bathrooms.
In a corner installation, two existing tiled walls become the enclosure's sides — the installer fits only one or two glass panels plus a door rather than three or four, which reduces both material cost and visual bulk. The most space-saving variant uses a diagonal door hinged from the corner point, which clears the bathroom floor arc by 30–40 cm less than a standard swing door. Common corner shower cubicle formats are 90 × 90 cm square, 80 × 120 cm rectangular, and quadrant curved-front units where the door swings from a curved glass panel. Corner entry layouts are almost always the correct choice for Dubai apartments with bathrooms under 4 m², and they also leave more accessible floor area for tile cleaning — important given hard-water mineral deposits that accumulate quickly on bathroom floors here.

What's Included in an Enclosure Package
glass paneldoortray
A standard shower cubicle enclosure package from Emirates Pergola & Glass Works includes the tempered glass panel or panels, the door with hinges or sliding gear, and the shower tray if specified — plus all wall channels, seals, and fixing hardware needed for a watertight installation. Glass is 8 mm toughened as standard, with 10 mm available for frameless designs above 100 cm width. The door comes in pivot, sliding, or bi-fold configuration depending on the layout. Silicone sealing of every glass-to-wall joint and a functional water-containment test are part of the standard fit — not optional extras. Nano-coating can be added to the glass panel surfaces at the time of installation for an additional fee. We also advise on ongoing descaling care, since DEWA's hard water will leave mineral deposits on any untreated glass surface within weeks of first use.
