What a Bathtub Glass Panel Does and How It's Installed

A bathtub glass panel installation is a fixed or semi-fixed glazing system that mounts alongside a bath to contain water and define the wet zone.
The most common configuration is a single fixed panel running the full length of the tub, held in a wall-mounted bracket channel at each end. We use 8 mm or 10 mm tempered glass as standard — it's the minimum safe thickness for a freestanding bath panel and a legal requirement for sanitary glazing in the UAE. The bracket is drilled into the wall substrate and secured with marine-grade stainless anchors, which matters in Dubai where summer humidity regularly spikes above 90 percent and standard steel fixings corrode within months from repeated condensation cycles.

How Much Does a Bathtub Glass Panel Cost?

A bathtub glass panel in Dubai typically ranges from AED 800 to AED 1,500 for a single frameless fixed panel in 8–10 mm tempered glass at standard bathtub dimensions.
Panel height is the primary cost driver — a 130 cm panel uses noticeably more glass than an 80 cm splash guard, and taller panels require heavier hardware to carry the load safely. Custom size panels, where the width or height falls outside stock dimensions, add AED 200–400 for bespoke cutting and edge finishing. We provide a fixed written quote after the site measurement visit, so there are no surprises when the invoice arrives. Hydrophobic nano-coating, which combats the mineral scaling caused by Dubai's desalinated DEWA supply water, adds AED 150–300 and is strongly recommended.

Custom Wall Panels for Awkward Bathtub Layouts

Custom shower wall panels solve the measurement problems that stock sizes never address — angled walls, niche bathtub recesses, and enclosures where two or three sides need glazing.
We handle these by visiting the site before any fabrication begins, recording every dimension and checking how plumb the existing walls actually are. Dubai's villa stock from the 2000–2015 build era often has wall panel surfaces that are several millimetres out of true, and a panel cut to nominal size will either gap or bind. Custom cut glass eliminates that problem: each wall panel is fabricated to the surveyed dimensions, edged, and arrives on installation day ready to fit without trimming or shimming. The result is a flush, sealed finish that a standard off-the-shelf unit simply cannot achieve.

Will It Actually Stop Splashing?

Yes, but panel height is the deciding factor.
A splash guard set at 80 cm above the tub rim will reduce floor wetting from a fixed overhead shower, but it won't contain water from a handheld head used at full range. For reliable splash control, the panel should reach 130–150 cm above the bathtub rim; a near-ceiling panel eliminates virtually all floor wetting. Equally important is the seal gap at the base where the glass meets the tub surface. Even a 3 mm gap allows water to track under the panel and pool on the floor. We apply a sanitary-grade silicone rated for Dubai's summer temperatures — above 45 °C ambient — along this join to keep the seal tight through repeated thermal expansion cycles without cracking or peeling.
